How To Stay Active During The Festive Season

How To Stay Active During The Festive Season - Fit-Squirrel

It's that time of year again where we're all inundated with family, work and social commitments all at the same time. It's oh-so-easy to get overwhelmed, exhausted and end up prioritising everyone and everything over our own personal health and wellness.

It's a season of indulgence, but let's not forget to indulge in the things that keep us centred, calm and feeling our best - our movement practises.

We've put together our Top 3 Tips for Staying Active during the festive season, whilst still enjoying our time with family and friends.

  • Make social catch-ups Active

If you are finding it difficult to maintain your usual fitness routine amongst all the parties, lunches, dinners and social events - try to make your catch-ups have an active component. Meet a friend for walk or swim at the beach, catch an early morning fitness class that you've never tried before or give in-door rock-climbing a go. There are plenty of ways to mix your social life with mindful movement if you look for them.

  • Continue to make your movement a priority

This is not a time to pressure yourself, but rather to continue your commitment to your own health and wellbeing -  physically, emotionally and mentally. Make it a priority to carve out time for yourself during this busy season so you can feel your best. This will allow you to feel energised and present, and you'll be able to pour from a full cup for your loved ones.

  • Ask for Active Gifts

Set yourself up for success by asking for active gifts this Christmas - like a fresh set of activewear, a voucher to use at a local gym or pilates studio, or some new fitness equipment. You'll be extra motivated to move and you'll start the new year off with a renewed sense of accomplishment.

Got any tips to add? We'd love to hear them. Comment below and tell us how you stay active during the holidays.
